Does boxing cause dementia or other health problems?
I want to start to get into boxing, but I was told that it can cause dementia or other health problems. I want to know if there was any truth to this and if boxing is worth trying out.

Many people have died boxing, such as Manny Paret, who was killed by Emile Griffith, or Deuk Koo Kim, killed by Ray Mancini. Most boxing deaths used to be caused by dehydration, which is why they stopped 15 rounders. But it can still happen. Most fighters who continue to box past their prime usually suffer from premature onset of Parkinson’s or Pugilistic Dementia. So…yes.
getting hit in the head, numerous amounts of times, is bound to cause some health issues, especially brain issues/damage. as with any sport just be safe, wear protective gear. i am not sure if it has ever being proved to directly cause dementia but it probably increases your chances of getting some sort of brain damage. ever sport has its risks, look at all the hockey players that get concussions or broken faces
the brain is not meant to get hit. i trained in boxing, and the workout is great, with the bag work, running, etc, but no, i only did very light sparring. not worth the risk. hot girls don’t find slurred speech and drooling attractive.
