If I do not have kids and want to make sure someone takes care of me if I get alzheimers how do i do this?
I want to make sure that the person or agency taking care of me does not take me for all my money. Also What type of insurance plans or long term plan is the best for making sure I can afford an in home nurse.

went to md shrink to have my add and sleep meds fine tuned which he did. When i changed family doctors their rpt said that in addition i was bipolar ll. he never mentioned it to me?

i have always known that emotionally i felt ALMOST in constant flux.. not extremes and more fighting a lingering small depression…a small anxious feeling really. no depression that would interfear much with feelings of selfworth. inspite of this "thing" i have always had a "rational" and very positive outlook that comes to me as part of my personality at my core since i was a little girl.

What is normal? Can my emotions become more stable? you live one way all of your life and don’t know what it would be like any other way; but have always known that something just wasn’t perhaps like other people.

I lost my job due to caring for my alzheimers mother, so I have no insurance at this point so asking a shrink is out of the question.

So I’m clueless in all aspects. Any and all info please

My daughter’s father sent me a parenting time agreement for visitation and what not. He wants to claim her on taxes every other year. He has no job. Sees her 3 days out of 14, at most. We were never married and live in Minnesota. I pay our rent, buy food, clothes, and everything else. Pay all daycare. Carry her insurance. Does he have any right to claim her? He lives with his parents and they do all of her caregiving when its ‘his’ weekend. Have you been through this? What happened?

I have a relative who fell on the ice in January, 2011 and has been in the hospital ever since. Diabetes and other complications ( blood thinners used for diabetics when the accident occurred caused some problems ). His insurance has covered him up until now ( has 30 days remaining ). He was in ER, hospitals, and now nursing home but has lost the ability to use his legs, his memory and cognitive thinking are very similar to someone with alzheimers. He cannot be taken care of at home and will need life-long nursing home. He is only 70. He may live to 71, he may live to 90. who knows how much help he will need. What happens when the insurance runs out?

I live and work in the US (Bay Area, California). My parents lie in India. My father suffers from Parkinson’s plus disorder (most likely MSA – Multiple System Atrophy). I would like to have him diagnosed and treated for, by having both my parents over here. My parents have a multiple-entry Visitor VISA to USA. Where can I find good Health Insurance that can cover his treatment/care-giving expenses for his stay here?

I am old enough to remember my great-aunt, a widow whose only child died in a car accident. My father spent his retirement money to pay for her care as she died of Alzheimers. Fortunately for my dad, when my grandmother got old, she had Medicare, so he was able to start saving again – but he never got back to where he had been before.

Is anyone else absolutely furious about getting rid of Medicare?
@Chris R – I do hope you are being sarcastic… Nobody will sell an affordable health insurance policy to a senior citizen with pre-existing conditions!

She is now in a Residential care facility for Alzheimers. If she could it would help pay her monthly bill. As most people know, private insurance companies do not cover this unless it is a nursing home.

What can be done? I live in El Paso, Texas and am in need of someone to help me with this. My father is ill with what seems to be Alzheimer’s but is going untreated right now due to insurance issues. If i place him in a home and he has limited health care. Does this mean the state or another agency can take away the house, even when itsstill in his name and i’m his only surviving next of kin. I do hold power of attorny, Does this help any????

My grandfather along with 100′s of thousands of people that suffer from Alzheimer’s disease. I don’t think it’s right that the spouse/children that are taking care of their loved one have to waste away their savings on a nursing home. Why can’t insurance pay for it. My grandma is 81 years old, she does not have a choice anymore but to put my grandfather in a nursing home. He is/was the sweetest man, but is now starting to get violent, she only sleeps 2-4 hours a night…he keeps her up, and he has gotten out of the house a few times in the middle of the night. She has no other choice, we stay the night over there to help out, but she still ends up getting up. Why does she have to pay ,000 a month for a nursing facility for a mental illness that is out of everybody’s hands? Why doesn’t insurance cover this? Medicare only covers 200 days and that’s it…and only if there is written documentation that my grandpa’s doctor feel it’s necessary…which he has been trying to convince my grandmother for over a year that is her best option, because he is just going to get worse. Who could I write a letter, email, call to try to beg for some health care law to be passed for those who have Alzheimers or Demetia, or another illness..to get financial coverage, without their spouse/loved ones having to give up their life savings, retirement, house just so that their loved one can get the medical assistance they need? Thank you! (I don’t know if there is such a thing out there, but my heart is breaking for my grandma and any other person who has gone through this. It’s a hard enough decision to put your loved one in a nursing home, let alone worrying about the financial burden.)
My grandma has some money, and I am not expecting the government to pick up everything. The point I’m making is, it’s not fair for my grandma to go broke, have to give up her home, how is she supposed to live? They still have medical insurance copays, utilities, pay for their medications…it’s not fair for her to go into the poor house, and end up with nothing for her to survive off of. That is where I was getting at. Is there help out there?

My family and I are going through really hard times. My mother was very close to owning the last house we lived in and only had about 5,000 left to pay on it but wells fargo claimed she was late on a payment. When she wasn’t, she was actually ahead by one. So since we are in an on going battle with them in the court house we have been evicted and the house its self is not even able to be lived in anyways since they did things like pull out the carpet when they weren’t supposed to until the court decided to make its decision and also destroyed the gazebo. We weren’t able to catch them pulling carpet and such until it was too late because we have been staying up at my grand pas house taking care of him for i want to say two years, because he was suffering from Alzheimer’s ((houses are close by not even like for to five blocks away)) Well recently he had taken a fall while we were walking outside he had hit his head and we feared the worse… not a good day at all. But now we have him being taken care of at a assistant nursing facility. (( good news he is doing very well now )) after having to move him from several because they weren’t taking very good care of him and he had an accident at one of them. But now he is at a very good facility it’s a little out of the way and cost a little more but honestly we were more concerned about his health. Well his health insurance ran out. Going to seek for help we haven’t ben able to find any and now they want his home for payment. So as of December 15th we are really going to be out on the streets. I don’t know what to do, I am a college student, I have a little brother who is 11 and diagnosed with leukemia and my mother who although runs a small Business is falling under. Not only that but guess working for hollywood video wasn’t a smart move because they closed the store i was working at for about 2 years, and they just closed the store randomly in late October and they literally gave us a one day notice. Now Ive been working for my mom for the time being trying to help her out at least and gather the little money we can. But with my credit score being low 554 I have no idea how to raise it let alone raise it in time to get a loan or something just so we can find a place to live. I really don’t know what to do at this point. Ive tried applying online for home loans but keep getting denied. Is there any place out there willing to look passed that even if the interest rate will be high? I’d still be willing.

((sorry if story is a little jumbled or if you’d like me to go into detail on more of one subject id be glad to just trying to give a rough draft of what exactly we are going through of coarse there is more problems we are suffering from but i believe the important details made its way out there)) just desperately seeking help. I have no idea what to do. Let alone think straight or keep myself from falling from all the stress so sorry if I’m not a little all there.
