90 Year Old Grandma got scammed. Worried about Dementia. How to get her tested?
My grandma is 90 years old and is still 90% "Mentally With It". She is about 75% physically, she needs to use a walker when she goes out, but pretty much she is "All There".
She got scammed by some guy that said her bank info had been compromised and she had to give him money and info so they could open a new account for her. She had ,500.00 stolen from her.
My great grandmother started to have a mental decline at about age 90… We are worried that this is the first symptom of a greater problem.
I’m no expert on age related mental decline but I’ve heard that if you go get evaluated for Dementia/Alzheimer’s and you catch it in the early stages, there are medications and treatment to help slow the progression.
I have no idea how to go about getting my grandma to do this…
Long story short, I live in Chicago, IL USA and she is in Tucson, AZ USA and my Uncle’s Wife (My uncle and his wife both live in Tucson near my Grandma) is VERY Anti-Medication. I’m trying to get info on all of this to provide to my Uncle so that there can be no doubt that this is a good idea.
Can someone help direct me to information on:
1. What types of "Testing" will she do.
2. What type of Doctor do I need to look up to do the testing.
3. What is the scale she will be put on when she finishes her tests? (What is it called)
4. What are the medication options to help prevent the continued mental decline?
ANY personal stories would help as well… ANY help is greatly appreciated.

Can somebody PLEASE give Fergie the contact number for the Alzheimer's society?
He has clearly forgotten he’s managing Manchester United – allegedly the "best" team in England. Why has he signed a centre forward who would struggle – and I mean struggle – to play for Burnley’s reserves?
Dementia is a very serious condition.

Can stress have effects on your sex life?
Ok so the past few months have been hell. I’m working with my boyfriend to get our business off the ground. We’ve done more in our first six months than most do in two years when starting.
But I’ve also been under a lot of stress….
* My grandmother is losing her battle with alzheimers disease…she was my best friend (Aside from my mom) and everyone in my family is more concerned about funeral costs than my gram. I’m getting criticized by a relative whos my grams neice telling me that I’m an awful granddaughter, because I couldnt get to the nursing home all the time before she went down hill (I was working 65 hours a week for months and I went over as much as possible)
* My "In-laws" have been fighting with us. they owe us money, are taking back a computer they gave us, and now refuse to pay us or give up something that belongs to my bf that we need.
* My dads been drinking more and more and more lately because of what my grams niece is doing and over the funeral costs. I get the end results of it all (Him screaming at me on the phone)
* My computer (since we’re losing our other one thanks to his parents or we don’t get our stuff we need from them) is frying out. I have a big client to meet with this week and my computer isn’t reliable right now. It might take up to two weeks to get a new system and Dell has been hell. Ive been getting chest pains when they call.

kitten poop?
I got a Kitten on thursday, she seems healthy and she’s very sweet, active, friendy…
But I’m worried about her eating and pooping habits. She doesn’t ever seem to poop or pee, that I know of, because she’s never done it infront of me.
She’s obviously pooped at some point; Because she’s had it on her fur, but I was wondering what the average schedule is for young kittens. I’ve never had one this young, without her mom cat or my dog doing all the major caregiving. Her tummy is big but everyone says that’s the normal babyfat tummy.
She’s about 4-6 weeks, They told me she was 6-8 but I knew they were lying… They just wanted to get rid of the kittens… I dunno, just concerned ’cause I’m a new "mommy" and I don’t have the extra cash at the moment to take her to the vet…

empathy in health care?
Hey guys, here’s the deal. I’m 19 years old, and am a nurse. Yes, i’m a guy, just to make that clear
Anyway my main question stems from this; A year or so ago, before i started at my current job, which is dealing with aged-adults with alzheimers and dementia, i had a few visits to a therapist to talk over things going on in my life. After a few sessions she diagnosed me as a hyper-sensitive. What it means more or less is that i tend to be more empathetic than others, feeling others emotions tends to come natural to me. seeming to rub off on me. Well, i’m sure you can tell that this "empathetic ability" definitely helps me with my job, allowing me to tap into the needs of the people around me without them telling me, do any of you have this "hyper-sensitivity" and if so, how do you make it work for you?

How can an evangelical christian alzheimer's patient go to heaven if they don't remember who Jesus is?
My grandparents are fairly extreme about their religion. I have had debates with them where they say that if I don’t believe in Jesus as my savior then I am going to hell. I retort with, "What about people that don’t know about Jesus?" They say that they are going to hell. Well, what about people that have Alzheimer’s? What if they can’t remember who Jesus is? What if they think that their kids name is Jesus? Is that blasphemous? Are they going to hell? It is my understanding that in Evangelical Protestantism one must believe Jesus to be the Messiah. I don’t think I like this God.

Cons:Now that it's revealed Reagan had Alzheimer's signs in office, does that knock him off your lofty pedestal?
In this article ( http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110115/ap_on_en_ot/us_reagan_alzheimer_s ) and in Reagan’s son’s new book, Ron talks about his father showing signs of the disease as early as 1984.
Regarded as the best republican president of all-time by the likes of nearly all republicans, does this impact his standing as a leader or reinforce the conspiracy theory that most presidents are merely figureheads who do whatever the guy behind curtain tell them to do.
As Bill O’Liely would say:
"What say you?"
Cod- last time I checked … I didn’t give a comment on my thoughts. I asked for yours and you conveniently dodged the question.
splitter- I am familiar with people reading into lines to see whatever ill-guided views they may have. The passage you quoted has more to do with the protecting of minorities and avoiding "mob rule" attitudes like yours. Judging by your attitude toward that quote, I would be inclined to think you think it was right that the church persecuted Galileo for saying the Sun was the center of the solar system and no the earth?
Below 50%- No one ever mentioned the word "hate" until you did. Yeah, putting Obama’s picture in front of a hammer and sickle has nothing to do with hate? Don’t lecture me, hypocrite.
Allen- Maybe I missed something, but I thought the last paragraph said, "…when we elect presidents, we elect human beings with all their foibles and weaknesses, psychological and physiological."
Maybe you’re seeing things?

Miller Trust in California?
I am trying to help an individual who’s husband is suffering from Alzheimers Disease. He is in a facility, and their assets are quickly depleting, due to the expense. I have read about something called a "Miller Trust", but cannot find out whether it is available in California.
Does anyone have legitimate information that I can pass on to help this family?
