Are these signs of early dementia or alzheimer's?

I am a shy and reserved person, I have been an immigrant in a country for almost 10 years, I live in fear and self doubt all the time, I over analyze my actions and situations all the time, I have strange questions like how do people use their brains and bodies without completely understanding how their brains and bodies work and I try to analyze that which leads to a lot of awkwardness when I am in public, I feel afraid to ask anyone about this problem since I thought they wouldn’t take it seriously and laugh, I feel nervous when I am in class and don’t get the good grades I used to get, I don’t attempt things I used to attempt before or tackle challenges like before, I am more reserved now than before, I live in fear and doubt and worry, I have found that I am not that good at things that I was good at before. I was criticized as a child, and ever since my early teens I have struggled with this problem. I read in an article in yahoo which I have included in brackets (http://health.yahoo.net/caring/5-signs-of-alzheimer-s-that-sometimes-show-up-before-memory-loss) that people who don’t attempt to accomplish harder tasks, don’t meet other people often, who are reserved, keep to themselves, forget names and places and peoples names etc are prone to dementia and or alzheimer’s. Should I be worried. If anyone can help me with this problem I would be greatly thankful..
I find myself being absent minded meaning leaving things on the stove and forgetting about them a few times, Its not that I forget people and street names or anything like that, just don’t have the drive that I once had, am unable to make a lot of friends because of being in confident an insecure and being under stress. Maybe I just over analyze and doubt myself too much.

How can a doctor diagnose alzheimer's when a person has had the same memory problems before???

My grandmother was diagnosed with mild schizophrenia a LONG time ago, but now they’re saying she’s showing early signs of alzheimer’s even though she had the same memory problems when they diagnosed her as schizophrenic! (which she shows NO sign of….just an extreme mental disorder from a mental breakdown which happened because of family issues. How can the doctors be sure this is alzheimers?? I’m worried….

Elderly driver who is showing strong signs of Alzheimer's .?

My roommate, who I have lived with for 11 years, has an elderly mother who is showing very many signs of alzheimer’s. I have known my roommates family since I was a teenager they are kind of like family.

I have nothing against elderly drivers if they can operate their vehicle properly and are safe. Unfortunately I don’t think my roommates mother falls into this category anymore. I found out how poorly she drove when I was actually letting her test drive a car that I was thinking of selling. When I was in the car with her I was starting to fear for my life. She drifts over the center line, over corrects and doesn’t apply the right amount of pressure to the gas pedal. Making her go either too fast or way to slow sometimes. She also gets disoriented easily.

Just yesterday one of her daughters took her to lunch then when they got to her house she turned around and asked her daughter "Who are you?" Then her daughter said "It’s me Kate" Then she said "You don’t look like my Kate." She also has trouble working her appliances so I feel strongly she shouldn’t be driving. I have to go over and reteach her how to use her TV about once a month and I know she gets help from others with it too. I also have to show her how to use her stove. I don’t mind I am just concerned.

My roommate just lost her 80 year old father a few months ago and whenever I mention her mother she just doesn’t want to talk about and gets mad and says her mother "Isn’t showing signs of Alzheimer’s! She just gets confused!"

I don’t want to upset her and I know it is hard to see your parents lose their independence but we are talking about people’s lives here. She could fatally injure herself and/or someone else if she mistakes the gas for the brake or a green light for a red light.

My roommate says she is fine because she doesn’t drive at night and she only drives around town but I don’t think this is enough. I know someone who had an elderly stepmother run over and kill someone. I also see stories on the news of elderly drivers running their cars through a farmers market or through stores mistaking the gas for the brake.

She has just bought a new car from her grandson. Which I was sad to see. I decided to not sell her my car after going on the test drive because I wouldn’t want the guilt if she hurt someone using a car I sold her knowing she was a bad driver.

So my question is can I secretly call the BMV and tell them what is going on and would they help? I don’t want to make anyone angry but this is serious. I also don’t want any drama but I have mentioned it to her family members quite a few times and they are minimizing the situation and acting like it doesn’t exist.

I heard her daughter was already contacted once by her doctor concerning her mothers driving and getting her memory tested. Then the daughter said she doesn’t really like that doctor and was irritated by what the doctor said. Should her doctor be the one to call the BMV?

I know many people would say it isn’t my business but She is almost like a second mother to me and I don’t want to see her hurt herself or someone else.

Anyone have any advice?

I see some trolls are biting but I hope to get some serious replies too.
@ roger Thanks for giving me some serious feedback :] It’s nice to know someone else has been in this situation. I am definitely call the BMV tomorrow and look up and see if I can find something to fill out online. I really don’t want to see anyone get hurt but if she continues to drive even just around town someone is bound to get hurt. The car she has been driving has dents all over it so I know she is bumping into stuff.

I just googled elderly drivers to see if there was any info and I was bombarded with stories of serious accidents that are happening almost everyday by elderly who were driving when they shouldn’t have been.

If the BMV doesn’t help I will call her doctor to see if they can have her license pulled.

Does my great aunt have Alzheimer's?

While she is drying dishes, she would come to a ladle and ask, "Where do I put this?"
She would say, "It’s time for my medication, when she already took it."
When she was being read an address (555 Oak St) to write down, she asked, "How do you write 555?"

I’m wondering if she may have early signs of Alzheimers, shes 70 years old.

Afraid Nana has alzheimers. Paranoid?

My Nana (grandma) has been forgetting a lot of things and she’s getting older and isnt taking care of herself. She drinks non-stop and takes pills for depression and parties all the time.

My grandpa died in April in 2006 from alzheimers, and he was only in his 60′s. The alzheimers took control slow, and we cared for him over the years. It was, and still is, the most painful part of my life. My nana was a mess after he died and never recovered. Now she’s showing the same beginner signs my grandpa did. I’m terrified she’ll suffer my grandfathers fate. Please help.

Are we all paranoid because of how my grandpa died or can she be dying?

Please, help.

does anyone have experience with Alzheimer's in loved ones?

my mother-in-law lives kind of far so we mostly have contact by
phone. She started showing signs of forgetfulness almost a year ago. She’s starting to repeat herself 4 or 5 times or asking the same ?’s 3-4 times during the phone call. When WE call her she’ll ask who answered the phone earlier(no one did). Then she’ll say "okay, I was just calling to check on you and your..umm..neighbors"(we called her + our neighbors are our best friends)She’s EXTREMELY emotionally sensitive.
Anyway, What stage am I looking at? and how long do I have before we need to have her live with us?

When Do You Know That U Have Alzheimer?

I know that the signs of Alzheimer are remembering the past but not being able to remember the present.

I often forget what I was going to do when I walk from the kitchen to the bedroom, for instance. Or, I forgot that I put something on the stove before I left the house. But I do remember what I did when I was 3, lol.

How do I know if I have Alzheimers disease?

Is there a Website where I can test my memory?

Thank you :)
George, thanks for the vote of confidence, lol

if you forget where you put the keys, thats prob normal If you forget what the keys are used for, then you have a prob

I like that, haha

and you are probably right. That would be a REAL problem If I didn’t know what the keys are for, lol

      Alzheimer's what and how is……?

it diagnosed? I know that the the sign of forgetting a lot would be a reason that a person would get checked, but I just wondered if it’s only the signs of forgetting that makes a doctor diagnose it as Alzheimers or is there something missing or too much of in the brain that causes it or in the blood or what? I understand that there are new drugs out these days that can prolong it if caught early, right? If anyone knows something about Alzheimers, please help with all the above questions….Thank You
